Homicide detectives say police responded to a report of a shooting around 7:20 p.m. at 347 Arvin Avenue between Fruitland Road and Green Road in Hamilton's east end.

Upon arrival officers discovered a woman with gun shot wounds.

The woman, 26, was transported to hospital with "critical" injuries.

Tyler Pratt, 39, was later found dead at the rear of the building in an industrial sector of the city.

Investigators believe the deceased was in the process of moving from B.C. to the greater Toronto area.

In an update on Monday morning, Det. Sgt. Jim Callender said there were no arrests or suspect descriptions and that police would be canvassing the area for surveillance video.

However, Callender said a newer model white Land Rover is a vehicle of interest. It's believed the suspect left in the off-road capable car which likely has lower body damage based on evidence found at the scene.

"We suspect that there is a vast amount of surveillance video and we are present down the area now," said Callender.

The only known witness to the shooting is the woman who was wounded sometime between 6:45 p.m. and 7:20 p.m., according to police.

"She has ties to Hamilton, but also she has moved around in her life as well," Callender said.

The female was discovered by two civilians who were driving by the area following the shooting, according to detectives.
