Hamilton Public Health Services is reporting 28 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

There are  435 active cases of COVID-19 in the city with no new deaths linked to the virus in the last 24 hours.

Hamilton's weekly rate of new cases per 100,000 people is at 58.

Since March 2020, a total of 283 people have died after contracting COVID-19.

The total number of resolved cases now stands at 9,583

27 COVID-19 outbreaks

There are currently 27 COVID-19 outbreaks in the city. 

The latest outbreak, at Electromart Inc., has five cases.

The outbreak at Juravinski Hospital, Unit B3, includes cases that have screened positive — meaning individuals for whom a mutation was identified in the case's SARS-CoV-2 positive specimen, suggestive of a possible variant of concern.

Meanwhile, the outbreak at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Elementary School was declared over on Saturday.

Status of vaccine distribution in Hamilton

As of the end of day Feb. 25, a total of 33,851 vaccines had been administered — 10,809 at mobile clinics and 23,042 at the fixed clinic at Hamilton Health Sciences.  

Brant

The county of Brant has 45 active cases according to data online. There were nine new cases in the last 24 hours.

There have been 1,481 cases since March and 12 deaths. There's no one currently hospitalized with COVID-19.

A total of 1,424 cases have been marked as resolved. 

There have been 7,944 doses of the vaccine administered.

Haldimand-Norfolk

Haldimand and Norfolk Counties are reporting a total of 33 active cases of COVID-19

There have been 1,427 cases throughout the pandemic. Of those, 1,350 have recovered.

The local public health unit has linked the virus to 39 deaths.

There have been 6,292 doses of the vaccine administered. 

Halton

The number of COVID-19 cases in Halton rose by 49, for a total of 9,475 so far.

Data indicates 241 of those cases are active.

Ten of the new cases were in Burlington, which has seen 2,424 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic. There are 50 active cases in the city.

A total of 196 people across the region have died after being infected with the virus, 49 of them in Burlington.

The region is reporting a total of 64 variant cases, 13 of which have been confirmed as variants of concern. The remaining 51 have been screened positive. These are individuals for whom a mutation was identified in the case's SARS-CoV-2 positive specimen, suggestive of a possible variant of concern.

Niagara

Niagara is reporting 22 new cases of COVID-19. The region has seen 8,583 cases over the course of the pandemic, including 264 that are active.

A total of 369 deaths have been linked to the virus over the course of the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 7,950 cases are now marked as resolved.

There have been 10,576 doses of the vaccine administered in Niagara. 

Six Nations

Six Nations of the Grand River has 106 active COVID-19 cases, according to Ohsweken Public Health.

There have been 351 cases reported over the course of the pandemic and three deaths.

A total of 242 cases have been marked as resolved.

Four people are currently hospitalized as a result of COVID-19.

Ontario reports 1,062 new cases of COVID-19

Ontario reported 1,062 new cases of COVID-19 and 20 new deaths linked to the virus on Sunday.

The new infections push the province's cumulative number of cases since the start of the pandemic past the 300,000 mark.

Sunday's numbers mark the fifth straight day that daily case counts have topped 1,000. 

The new fatalities bring the total number of COVID-19-related deaths to 6,980.

Meanwhile, the number of people in Ontario hospitals with confirmed cases of COVID-19 is now 627. Of those, 289 are being treated in intensive care and 185 require the use of ventilators to breathe.
