&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;It was an exciting day for our friends across the border in New York City as two of the first legal cannabis shops opened on December 29th, 2022.&nbsp;
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Cannabis was legal for medicinal purposes under the New York law in 2016, and recreational use was legalized in 2021. However, recreational cannabis was not sold legally in New York City. Instead, citizens would have to travel to purchase their cannabis legally from neighbouring states.&nbsp;
&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;New York now has awarded 36 out of 175 licenses allowing citizens to own and operate these legal storefronts with plans to open in 2023. However, two storefronts have made everyone&rsquo;s 2022 much more lit by serving as the first legal cannabis shops in New York City. Housing Works and The Doe Fund are officially open in Greenwich Village, Manhattan.&nbsp;

In a dope decision, 407 German lawmakers voted in favour of the new regulations, allowing adults to possess small amounts of cannabis for personal use. The legislation, however, maintains strict prohibitions for individuals under 18. Germany now joins the ranks of Malta and Luxembourg as the third European country to legalize cannabis for recreational purposes. This move has sparked a nationwide debate on the advantages and disadvantages of easier access to the plant.
Adults will now be permitted to cultivate up to three cannabis plants for private consumption. Starting from April 1, individuals will be allowed to possess 50g of cannabis at home and 25g in public. Additionally, from July 1st, licensed not-for-profit clubs with a maximum of 500 adult members will be authorized to distribute cannabis.
Germany's Health Minister, Karl Lauterbach, emphasized that the primary goal is to protect children and youth, as cannabis will remain illegal for minors and highly restricted for young adults. Consumption near schools and playgrounds will be strictly prohibited.
While the majority has embraced the move towards cannabis legalization, opposition from Germany's conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the German Medical Associations (GMA) persists.  All plants require water however it is not commonly known that only a small amount of water that is taken up by the roots of a plant is used for growth and metabolism. In fact, about 97 &ndash; 99.5% of water intake is lost through the processes of transpiration and guttation.

 With these chambers closed at night, the process of guttation takes over. If the soil the cannabis plant resides in is high in moisture content over night, this water will enter through the plant roots which then cause pressure in the roots. This pressure then forces some of the water to exude through the leaf axil, leaf tips, edge structures and hydathodes (modified pores) in the form of sticky drops. So, rather than water evaporation, a sap will form.&nbsp;
