This relatively new method of consumption for cannabis is gaining more and more traction as its popularity is growing. First-hand accounts are reporting the many benefits of Microdosing.

Almost everybody who dabbles with cannabis products long enough will have one of those stories of that time.

Maybe they took one too many hits, or couldn’t feel much with an edible, so they ate another one after the first hour. Then it hits you. You messed up.

The blood pressure drops, vertigo and dizziness sets in. Some will go down the deep end of the pool facing extreme anxiety. Irrational thoughts of something horrible might happen to them.

One thing to remember: there are no such things as overdosing on weed.

Of course, you can take too much too quickly, and you’re not sure how to handle that overwhelming feeling, so your mind will play tricks on you.

Rest assured, you are not in any danger of losing your life or any permanent health damageIt’s all in your head and, although it might not be funny on the day of, looking back at it after, that bad trip will be a laughable story to tell around the campfire with your other fellow stoner friends.

Why Should I Microdose?

Whether you have never touched cannabis before or been using it for many years, Microdosing is an excellent tool that allows the users to have complete control of the dosages.

It is such a perfect way for introducing new users to cannabis and all its benefits without the high intoxicating effects that might hinder some’s daily life. For the clerical workers who may need a slight boost in focus and concentration without having to deal with the intoxicating head high, a higher THC dose may bring you.

Microdosing is also an effective way for a regular user to slowly get back in the game after a tolerance break or an extended vacation abroad. In its simplest form, Microdosing cannabis is one of the most precise tools to take control of your dosage effectively, so you get the full health benefits of this beautiful plant without feeling high as a kite.

How Much is Too Much?

It may sound a bit obvious, but the best way to start Microdosing is, to begin with, a very low dose. The whole point of this method is to get the full benefits of cannabis with the smallest amount of THC/CBD possible without feeling high. If you feel high while experimenting with your dosage, well, guess what, you went too far.

Start your journey into microdosing with a self-reflection process. Ask yourself those few questions to determine what you are really looking for in terms of results. How does cannabis improve your day? Is it anxiety relief? Pain relief? Trouble sleeping? Boost in focus/energy?

Once you mapped out your objectives and goals with your microdosing, you should constantly monitor the effects on yourself throughout your trial process.

Ideally, you would want to write it all down for future reference. For novice users, start with a very low dose, 1mg-3mg twice a day for a two to three-day period, and monitor the effects, if any. Bump it up to 2mg-4mg twice a day for the same period and compare your result.

Users with built-in tolerance might need to up their dosage to 10mg-15mg twice a day but know that at no point should you  actually feel high during the process.

You are simply trying to find the lowest dose possible needed for your body to gain the therapeutic and health benefits value of cannabis without the high feeling.

Once you reach a point where you feel comfortable with your results,  then you know the ideal Microdosing ratio you should keep for the next month or two. It is recommended to take a tolerance break every two months or so for a few days as 48 hours is the typical time required for your cannabinoid receptors to reset and be receptive for low doses again.

What Method of Consumption Should I Use for Microdosing?

Regardless of how much you will need to take, you should always aim towards a product with a 1:1 THC/CBD ratio, whether it’s a specific strain, an edible or tincture. This ratio will help you gain the full health benefits spectrum out of the cannabis plant.

Very similar to how much you should ingest for microdosing, the method of consumption will vary significantly from one person to another. Depending on many factors such as the person’s metabolism, previous cannabis use, tolerance level and the unique endocannabinoid system every person has, the method you choose is ultimately your own personal preference.

Microdosing With Tinctures
Some might be leaning more towards the tinctures, easy to make at home, odourless, extremely precise in dosage and easy to use with a pipette dropper bottle allowing you to calculate precisely how much half or a full dropper contains in mg of THC/CBD.

Microdosing With Edibles
Edibles can be a bit more tricky to use precisely as certain types of edibles might not have a consistent potency for the whole edibles. For example, if you split a gummy bear in half, there’s a chance the lower part might be more heavily infused with THC/CBD than the top part making it harder to gauge your doses precisely.

Although companies are getting better and better and properly dosing their edible products, there’s still a margin of error that needs to be addressed. Two identical 20mgs gummy bears might hit you differently. That’s just a fact. But again, experiment and find a reputable source in your area for edibles and test the dosage to suit your needs.

Microdosing by Smoking
Some old schoolers might simply go by how much ground weed they pack in each bowl of their bong and can accurately find the right balance for a good microdosing experience. Maybe for a more regular user, it’s as simple as three-four hits of a small joint twice a day will do the trick for them, and they feel satisfied with the effects/benefits ratio. The vital part of all this is to monitor yourself properly and your dosage to come up with the right formula for your own needs and preference.

Hopefully, this beginner’s guide sheds some light on the subject of Microdosing cannabis and may help some of you in your quest to find the proper dosing quantity and method that works best for you.
