Death Star was bred in Ohio in the early 2000s as a cross of Sensi Star x Sour Diesel. It got its name after a local grower’s crew said smoking it felt like getting hit by the Death Star. Face Off OG is a phenotype of OG Kush selected by Archive Seed Bank in Portland, named for its face-melting potency and knockout structure. It became the backbone of dozens of modern OG crosses because it passes on density and resin. OG Kush itself has murky origins, but most trace it back to a Chemdawg x Lemon Thai x Hindu Kush cross that hit LA in the 90s. The "OG" stands for Ocean Grown, coined by growers in California’s coastal cities. The purple and near-black colors in this run come out during late flower when temps drop, pulling anthocyanins to the surface. That greasy texture is from high levels of sesquiterpenes that keep the resin sticky instead of brittle.
